update
as of today i have read 12 out of 40 books for the goodreads challenge. 4 of those have been "comics".
review: the dark devine
title: The Dark Devine ( The Dark Devine 1)
author: Bree Despain
pages: 372
published: December 22nd 2009 by EgmontUSA
rating: 4/5
goodreads summary: Grace Divine, daughter of the local pastor, always knew something terrible happened the night Daniel Kalbi disappeared--the night she found her brother Jude collapsed on the porch, covered in his own blood--but she has no idea what a truly monstrous secret that night held.
The memories her family has tried to bury resurface when Daniel returns, three years later, and enrolls in Grace and Jude's high school. Despite promising Jude she'll stay away, Grace cannot deny her attraction to Daniel's shocking artistic abilities, his way of getting her to look at the world from new angles, and the strange, hungry glint in his eyes.
The closer Grace gets to Daniel, the more she jeopardizes her life, as her actions stir resentment in Jude and drive him to embrace the ancient evil Daniel unleashed that horrific night. Grace must discover the truth behind the boy's dark secret...and the cure that can save the ones she loves. But she may have to lay down the ultimate sacrifice to do it--her soul.
review:
I can be sort of a sucker for a book where a non human falls for a human, especially if it's a werewolf or a vampire. I was a bit iffy about this at first with all the religiousness, as that sort of thing makes me uncomfortable, but it turned out to be pretty damn good. I read this a lot faster than I thought I would too as I hadn't really felt like reading for the past couple of weeks. Once I got about halfway through I couldn't put the book down, this was exactly what I needed to get out of my little slump. I think most teen girls would love this, especially if they are into the whole paranormal teenage love thing.

review: into the wild
title: into the wild (warriors 1)
author: erin hunter
pages: 272
published: January 6th 2004 by HarperTrophy
rating: 4/5
goodreads summary:
Rusty starts out as an ordinary house kitten, but his travels deep into the forest involve him in the epic battles of the cat warrior clans who roam (and rule) the wild.
With a new name - Firepaw - and a position as a Thunderclan apprentice, our feline hero faces his destiny, struggles with issues of friendship, honor, courage, and betrayal, and learns what it truly means to be a warrior.
review:
i actually finished this a while ago, i just totally forgot to write a review. when you read the summary it sounds boring at first, but into the wild is a really good book. i think it's fun to look at things from a cat's perspective. it's kind of a serious book but i think most kids would love it. i mean come on, it's about cats, who doesn't love cats? it's also adventurous so i think that younger boys might get a kick out of this as well. the writing is simple and it's not to long, something i love after a long day of work. i can not wait to read the next one!

rating:1/5
goodreads summary:

Lives will be lost, and sacrifices will have to be made...
review:
I read the first Wicked about two years ago and going through my list of books I had read I decided to give this one a shot even though I didn't like the first one. Well I liked this one even less. When reading a book feels like a chore to me then usually that means the book sucks. I'm very surprised that I finished it, I kept wanting to give up on it. Actually I did a shit ton of skimming, and even so doing that almost took me a month to read. I really hate it when companies book like two or more books into one. It makes me feel like I haven't accomplished anything when I've finished the first one in no time, and I still have a second book to go before it can be declared finished. For shits and giggles I will give Resurrection (Wicked 5) a shot, but I highly doubt it's gonna be any good.

Review: The Cat Who Knew Shakespear
Title: The Cat Who Knew Shake-spear ( The Cat Who 7)
Author: Lilian Jackson Braun
Pages: 249
Published: June 1st 1988 by Turtleback Books
Rating: 5/5
Goodreads Summary:
There's something rotten in the small town of Pickax - at least to the sensitive noses of newspaperman Jim Qwilleran and his Siamese cats Koko and Yum Yum. An accident has claimed the life of the local paper's eccentric publisher, but to Qwilleran and his feline friends it smells like murder. They soon sniff out a shocking secret, but Koko's snooping into an unusual edition of Shakespeare may prove CATastrophic...because somewhere in Pickax a lady loves not wisely but too well, a widow is scandalously merry, and a stranger has a lean and hungry look. The stage is set for Qwilleran, Koko, Yum Yum, and the second act of murder most meow...
Review:
Once again another lovely Cat Who book from Braun. The writing is simple and I love diving into these books after, as they don't require much concentration. Koko is once again a little shit disturber but he's awesome none the less. Qwill is well...Qwill. The book kept me guessing until the end as always. If you love cats, cozy mysteries and just want something that's easy to read, you should check out these books. Start with the first one though otherwise things won't make much sense.
