goodreads summary:
Phryne Fisher needs a rest. It's summer. She packs up her family and moves to Queenscliff, a quiet watering place on the coast. Where she meets with smugglers, pirate treasure and some very interesting surrealists, including a parrot called Pussykins. What is the  mysterious Madame Selavey hiding? Where are the Johnsons, who were supposed to be in the holiday house?

review:
now i once again made the mistake of not starting with the first book, so i think if i maybe read this in the correct order my review would be different. it seemed interesting enough but as i said since i didn't read this in order a bunch of it didn't make sense. i also think that this is the first time i've read something that has taken place in the 20's and Australia. so i liked that it was something different. it started a bit slow in my opinion but whatever, i'm going to give the rest of the series a shot.
